Flamont Rose
Flamant Rose
Flamant Rose is a luxury classic yacht built in 1938 and extensively refurbished in 1997. She has a unique 97 ft gondola shaped riveted iron hull. There is no other yacht like her anywhere in the world. Large portholes create a light and visually stunning atmospheres on her upper deck. She is an ideal cruising yacht for home aboard. With a spacious interior of 50 meters and 35 meters of accessible deck, Flamant Rose is perfect for charters, business meetings or parties. However, it is only for private use of the owners.
Flamant Rose is navigable to Henley-upon-Thames and is one of the few large yachts to be low enought to be able sail under London Bridge giving it access to the delightful towns and villiages such as Hampton Court, Winsor and Marlow. It was the largest yacht to sail at the Henley regatta when in early 2000 and the subject of many newspaper and magazine articles.
Owners Valerie Austin and James Pool (Mr and Mrs Pool),both authors, love the extraordinary history the feeling of happyness and content the boat seems to possess.

Edith Piaf
Edith Piaf
The photographs and music aboard the Flamant Rose tell the rags to riches story of Edith Piaf, France’s most famous singer.
Flamant Rose is believed to been the love boat of Piaf and the French boxing champion Marcel Cerdan.
When Flamant Rose was brought to England for refurbishment, on the way down the Seine from Paris, the older French lock keepers immediately recognised it as “Piaf’s boat”. They were probably sad to see her leave French waters. However, the new owners are planning to take her to France on tour in the future.
For years Piaf’s songs were at the top of the charts internationally. She was earning more than any other female vocalist and could afford the best of everything. In Sweden, while touring, Piaf suddenly had an overwhelming desire for camembert cheese and red wine. So, she rented a plane to take her and her musicians to Paris for lunch. Thus, it is not surprising she wanted a boat like Flamant Rose whose beauty can be appreciated by a woman, as well as an experienced seaman.
Throughout her tempestuous life and explosive career she cast a spell over everyone who heard her. Although she was called “The little sparrow”, because she was only 4 feet 10 inches tall, her voice had the power of a volcano. “When she begins to sing” wrote a famous poet,”you hear a voice that wells up from the depths of her bein, a voice that unfolds like a tall wave of black velvet.” She had charisma and exuded magnetism, an energy that everyone around her could feel. Her songs "Non, je ne regrette rein" (No Regrets), La vie en Rose, and L’Hymne a Lamour will remain among the world’s most famous love songs forever and her film, "La Vie en Rose" shows what an extraordinary woman she was. Beautifully acted and a pleasure to see.

Honeymoon Experience
Honeymoon Experience. 'The Priestess of Love'
This beautiful yacht nicknamed “Priestess of Love” is ideal for a honeymoon on the Thames with full crew and silver service. The spectacular bedroom that has been featured in many magazines makes the perfect setting for the couple who want privacy. Although at approximately 100 feet it only has one very large cabin which is more a boudoir that includes a luxurious gold bath surrounded by mirrors. In fact it could easily be the set for Cleopatra with its gold curtains and treasure chest. It is the ultimate in luxury.
The atmosphere is pure Piaf. After all Piaf was called the queen of romance for her passionate love songs. “She needed love” said Yves Montand “she sang at her best when she was madly in love or when her heart had been broken. In love she was the purist.” One famous reporter called her, “the priestess of love.”
